The Illinois Conservative Action Network (ICAN) is dedicated to returning our government to the constitutional republic it was intended to be by our founding fathers. Our immediate objective is to build a network of citizens, groups, organizations and politicians working together to peacefully pressure our elected officials to honor their oath of office to “support and defend” the Constitution. We can’t do it without you. The list below is just some of the things you can do to help. It is by no means a complete list and we invite our members to submit their own suggestions for additional activities.
Blogging
Illinois Conservative Action Network offers our members an opportunity to express their Opinions on our blog, The Illinois Conservative Beacon. We only ask that you conform to the rules of civil discourse. If you would like to become a contributing author click HERE.
Recruiting
There is strength in numbers. E-mail, phone or talk to your friends and neighbors encouraging them to join us in our efforts. When individuals join with others in a shared objective the effectiveness of all are multiplied exponentially. Not a member? Please consider joining us today.
Organizing
Join or start a conservative action group in your own community. Take part in patriot rallies (tea parties and town hall meetings) at every opportunity and encourage others to do the same. Organize and participate in demonstrations against your elected representatives when they forget their oath of office and support unconstitutional legislation.
Reporting
One of our objectives is to provide information and encouragement to members of the network. You can help by informing us of events and happenings in your community so that we can inform others. Send us e-mails about political events, tea parties, rallies, e- mail campaigns, etc., or anything you think would be of interest to our readers and we will post it on our website or blog. Use the "feedback form" in the column to the left.
Networking
Start your own personal network among friends and neighbors for exchanging ideas, news and information and providing mutual encouragement to one another, using e-mail, telephone, personal contact, Internet bookmarking services, social networking sites and Internet forums.
Volunteering
Identify conservative candidates running for office in your district or state and offer to volunteer your services in making phone calls, sending e-mails, distributing signs and literature, poll watching, getting out the vote efforts, etc. These things are especially important during the thirty days preceding primary and national elections.
Donating
Financing is critical to election campaigns. This is particularly true with conservative candidates who are new to politics and often are not adequately supported by the Party establishment. Even small donations are extremely helpful. Send your donations directly to the candidate’s campaign, not to the political party. In most cases, you can make your donations through their website.
Vote
Your vote is just as important in primary elections as in general elections. In fact, it is often more important. Conservatives must prevail in the primaries if we are to have any chance of stopping our headlong rush into socialism and taking back the Republican Party. In primaries, establishment candidates and incumbents always have the advantage. Usually they are not the best candidates in terms of what is best for the welfare of the country. That is going to be especially true in the next election. That is why each vote is critical, and don’t just vote yourself, but encourage others to do the same.
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”
